The relatively new musical, Zorro, is set to close its run at the Garrick Theatre this March.
Zorro follows the story of the legendary masked man, and features music from The Gipsy Kings, as well as Flamenco dancing that is choreographed by Rafael Amargo.
The play is based on the book by Isabel Allende, ‘Zorro: A Novel’. The musical follows Don Diego de la Vega as he fights the overbearing rulers of Spanish California, while dressed at ‘Zorro’, the masked man.
Matt Rawle plays Zorro, with Emma Williams taking the part of Luisa, Zorro’s love. The Gypsy Inez is played by Lesli Margherita, and Ramon (Zorro’s arch Nemesis) is played by Adam Levy.
The show is directed by Christopher Renshaw, of ‘We Will Rock You’ and ‘Taboo’ fame.
Zorro has recently been up for 5 Laurence Olivier Awards, including the Best Musical award… However we will have to wait until the 8th March ’09 for the winners to be announced.
