In an exclusive interview, Jodie has revealed that despite the temptations that surround a West End star, she’s finding it easy to take care of herself. When asked how she copes physically with six energetic and highly emotionally charged performances every week, West End newcomer Jodie said that the performances themselves were keeping her in shape. No stranger to the health and fitness lark after winning Living TV’s reality slimming show The Biggest Loser in 2006, Jodie suggested that ‘they should bring out an Oliver! fitness DVD, it’s that good.’
Recently diagnosed as having inflamed vocal chords which have unfortunately resulted in an enforced six-day break from the show next week, Jodie also explained that she usually fends off coughs and cold by sticking to vitamins and a big woolly scarf, ignoring her grandmother’s advice to wear a vest, remarking that, ‘[the] vest look doesn’t become me.’
Not only is the show keeping her fit, she’s also having a blast on stage. Despite still suffering from nerves before every show, she quickly settles during her first number as she ‘falls in love’ with each of the boys in Fagin’s gang. The rest of the cast are, according to Jodie, ‘a fabulous bunch of people’ and it is ‘an honour’ for her to work with ‘such a talented man’ as Rowan Atkinson. In fact, she says the entire team at Drury land are ‘a fantastic family to be part of.’ For Jodie Prenger, it’s a fine life.
The second booking period of the show has recently been released so Oliver tickets are now available.
