The much acclaimed production of War Horse, by the National Theatre is set to be moved to the New London Theatre on 28th March, after a 2nd sell out run of the show at the Olivier Theatre, which ends on 18th March 2009.
For those that do not already know, the show follows the story of a horse called Joey, who is sold to the Cavalry and is shipped off the France, only to be caught in the middle of enemy fire in World War One.
The horse finds himself, at various times, serving both sides of the war, prior to ending up in no man’s land. Albert, Joey’s original and loving owner struggles to forget Joey, and cannot bear being without him.
Albert is not old enough to join up to fight, so he sets out on his own mission… To find Joey and return home with him.
This show is simply stunning, and The War Horse should move even the coldest heart.
The story is based on the celebrated novel by Michael Morpurgo, who was the Children’s Laureate from 2003 to 2005
