Ian Kennedy Martin, TV Writer, Has his Stage Debut with Berlin Hanover Express

Ian Kennedy is one of the most loved TV writers, and has now begun the journey to stage writing, after a career spanning 50 years.

Ian Kenned-Martin’s stage piece opens at the Hampstead Theatre on Tuesday 10th March 2009, with four actors cast; Isla Carter, Peter Moreton, Owen McDonnell and Sean Campion. Previews for the show open on Thurs 5th March ’09.
 
The show plays with the consequences for Ireland remaining ‘neutral’ country during wartime.
Mostly, the action will be based around 2 Irish officials in Berlin, trying to go on with their duties and normal business whilst the RAF in bombing the city.
 
As the story unfolds, the 2 Irishmen face the fact that their neutral status leaves them helpless against the war crimes happening around them.
 
Although this is the first stage piece Mr. Kennedy-Martin has written, he does have over 150 hours of TV drama under his creative belt, and is able to claim such successes as ‘The Sweeny’, Juliet Bravo, and Mogul.
