Brentwood Theatre Revamp Nears Completion.

February 17, 2009

May 2009 looks to be the completion date for the Brentwood Theatre overhaul, with the builders moving in next week to start the last stage of the work.

The project as a whole will have taken nearly four years in total, and includes new washrooms, a galley kitchen and a multi use space (suitable for use as a dance studio, rehearsal area, or even a 40 seat mini theatre) - Not to mention a new Theatre office.

The final work will begin on Monday by the construction firm ‘Londshaw Construction’, and will be scheduled to work around the various performances and rehearsals, in an attempt to minimise the disturbances caused.

David Fairman, the co-ordinator of the project said:

“We cannot believe that this project is coming to an end. The fundraising was only launched in September 2005, and less than four years later, we have raised around £400,000 which will have been efficiently spent providing outstanding facilities for the local community.”

The chairman of the theatre (who is set to retire after over 25yrs of involvement in the theatre) said:

“This is a great achievement for everyone at Brentwood Theatre.

I am delighted to be retiring as chairman just as this building work will be finishing, knowing that we now have an exciting, affordable and professional venue for theatre users in Brentwood, Havering and beyond.”
